    • Roman Maly, age 81, of Bryant, died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at the Wausau Hospital due to complications from a stroke. He was born on Dec. 20, 1916, in Ashton, to William and Josephine (Kalscheur) Maly. He married the former Esther Kruchten on May 6b, /b1941, in Roxbury. He was a member of St Wencel Catholic Church, and of the Catholic Knights. He farmed in the Town of Dane, Dane County, and Ashton until 1970 when he moved to Bryant. He farmed in Bryant until his death. Roman served on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and was a delegate for A.M.P.I. He also won many farming awards, including National Farmer of the Week, and the Grasslands Soil Conservation Award. Roman attended UW-Madison Agricultural short courses for two years, and continued working with the university on conservation and agricultural Issues. Roman is survived by his wife, Esther; three daughters Judy (Peter) Adler of Waunakee, Anita (Patrick) Drager of Mazomanie, and Karen Maly of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight sons, Richard (Charlene) Maly of Minneapolis, Vernon (Dottie) Maly of Omaha, Neb., Harold (Mary Ann) Maly of Waunakee, Allen (Joyce) Maly of Waunakee, Charles (Chris) of Mazomanie, Daniel (Rebecca) Maly of Bryant, Sylvester "Butch" (Pearl) Maly of Bryant, and Ronald (Kim) Maly of Bryant; three sisters, Viola Kaltenberg of Waunakee, Ethel Ballweg of Waunakee, and Annette (Gene) Schuster of Marshall; two brothers, Herbert (Eleanor) Maly of Ashton, and Norman (Lorraine) Maly of Ashton; 27 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, a brother and his parents. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept 30 at St Wencel Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeremiah Worman officating. Entombment was at the Queen of Peace in Antigo.
