      Eugene "Gene" Johnson

      Sun Prairie - Gene Johnson, age 82, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, in Fitchburg with his family at his side. He was born May 31, 1928, in Marshall, the son of Allen and Dorothy (Knapton) Johnson.On Sept. 3, 1949, Gene was united in marriage with Charlotte Kreger in Sun Prairie. Charlotte preceded Gene in death on April 6, 2004.

      Prior to his retirement, Gene was a CPA and partner of Virchow, Krause and Co. Gene was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a past member of the UW Alumni Association, the Masonic Lodge and Zor Shrine.

      Survivors include a son, Duane (Carolyn) Johnson of Cross Plains; a daughter, Dawn (Tim) Wenzel of Sun Prairie; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Angela Johnson, and Kevin and Amy Wenzel; and two great-grandchildren, Isiah and Catalina Lopez.

      Gene was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Dennis; and his parents.

      Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN, 550 Lincoln Drive with the Rev. Dr. David J. Berggren officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
